SHERREN, Verna Morrisey - 93, Belmont, passed away April 25, 2008, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel (Cottam) Roode. She was a long-time employee with Eastern Hat and Cap and Bagnell's Dry Cleaning for a combined working career of over 50 years. She was a member of Wesley United Church, Belmont, and an adherent of Belmont United Baptist Church. Verna enjoyed knitting and sewing and she continued to knit regularly up until the time of her passing. She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Reid; Ruth (Darrell) Turner, both of Belmont; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harley Crowell; second husband, Colin Sherren; sisters, Alma Staples, Alberta Lynds, Muriel Bigsby, Eunice and Mabel in infancy; brothers, Russell Roode, Dimock Roode, and Kenneth Roode. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, from 6-9 p.m., with funeral service on Tuesday, April 29, at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Interment in Belmont Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to Belmont United Baptist Church.
