Corporal Nelson Sherren served in the 2485 Regiment, serving overseas with that unit. He was mortally wounded on April 14th, 1917 at the Battle of Monchy, LaProux, during World War I. He was last seen alive at the 1st Field Ambulance in Souai on April 15th by his close friend Abe Roberts from Bottwood (Reg # 2766). Roberts survived and later married Corp. Sherren's sister, Georgina.
Nelson Sherren is buried in Douai, France.
