George E. Sherren held a position in the Royal Bank of Canada at Charlottetown when he enlisted in the 2nd Canadian Siege Battery for overseas service and left Charlottetown with the Battery in October 1915. He saw much action in France and Belgium; was severely wounded at Paschendale in October 5th , 1917. After being discharged from Camp Hill Military Hospital he was awarded the Honourary Officers Meritorious Badge of Service. At the outbreak of WW II, he had much to do with the recruiting of the PE Company of Veterans Guard of Canada. He was commissioned as an officer in the
17 th Reconnaissance Regiment Reserve Army, qualified as a Captain, and after demobilization was placed on the Reserve of Officers
