Notes about William Mayo Jr.
William was a yeoman farmer in Little Piddle (Puddletown) till about 1833, from about 1834, William was a yeoman farmer of 1,300 acres in Poxwell manor Farm, Dorset (census of 1841, 1851, and 1861) William received a legacy from his father, including all his father's lands in Frome St. Quinton and Little Puddle Farm in the parish of Puddletown, together with his lands in the parish of Piddlehinton caulled Druzella, Cleaves Fords and Granges. William was a church warden in Poxwell from 1834 to 1867. The 1871 census shows William 71, a retired farmer was enumerated in Charminster with Rebecca 62 and Charles 21.
