Obituary for Leon L. Soucie
Leon L. Soucie, 89, of Kankakee passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Miller Healthcare Center in Kankakee. He was born on April 7, 1929 in Kankakee, the son of Louis L. and Martha J. Senzig Soucie. Leon married Adrienne Giguere on August 5, 1950 in Kankakee. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2008. Leon’s end of life partner, Joan Dandurand, passed away on December 1, 2018.
Leon worked for Roper for 25 years, Hornsby’s for 19 years and Olivet Nazarene University for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, camping - especially cooking breakfast in the camper, and family get-togethers - including pizza nights on Fridays.
He served in the United States Army after WWII and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee.
He is survived by one son Richard Soucie of Kankakee; two daughters Joanne (Michael) Perrigin of Mahomet and Rosanne (Jack) Brighton of Champaign; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son James Soucie, one daughter Marianne Matern and all of Leon’s siblings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:30-8pm at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, with additional visitation starting at 10am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley
