Notes about Thomas Thayer

Baptism: 15 SEP 1622 Thornbury, Glouscestershire, England Note: died Aug.9,1692 "aged near seventy", or Aug.9,1693 "aged 69" at Braintree (duplicate records). He undoubtedly came over in 1639 with his father at the age of 17 years and married at Braintree but the identity of his wife has never been found. He is not found in the list of freemen of the colony but he or his wife was a member of the church and his children were baptized here as we learn from later records (See Sarah & Isaac) but the churc h records previous to 1672 are lost. There is no probate of his estate on record but his estate went chiefly to his son Ebenezer as the only deed by which he granted property (S.D. 38-119) dated Mar.1 6,1686/7 made over to Ebenezer 16 acres, a house and barn, two orchards, and he is to provide for us (his parents) for our natural lives, and to have the improvement of the west end of the house, als o to have half of 30 acres "at the Clay Pit adjoining the farm of Thomas Faxon, and half of 40 acres at Aldridge Farm."Sarah & Hannah were positively not daughters of Thomas1 or Richard1 Thayer, and are undoubtedly children of Thomas2 Thayer. Both joined the church as married women and had children baptized the same d ay May 8,1692 and Sarah was called "a child of this church" showing she was baptized here as an infant.
