El Capitán Pedro Martin Hernández, uno de los primeros conquistadores del Nuevo Reino de Granda, fue el padre del Capitán General Pedro Martín Dávila (o De Ávila), nacido hacia 1557, probablemente en Santafé de Bogotá.
La madre de éste debio haber sido una india chibcha y él salio, segun Fray Pedro Simon, "muy amestizado, por haber tomado mucho de su madre"... " Ver Antioquia Bajo los Austrias W.J.M. Tomo II pag. 359".
?Por deudas y pleitos terminó preso en la ciudad de Satafé de Bogotá, donde el 22 de julio de 1604 otorgó su testamento... Declara por sus hijos naturales a doña Juana Martín mujer de Rodrigo de Carvajal, vecino de Antioquia, a Diego y Agustina. Deja a su nieta, hija de Juana Martín y Rodrigo de Carvajal, doña Mencia de Carvajal (Martín), para ayuda de su casamiento, 6 piezas de esclavos.
?El General Pedro Martín fue el hombre mas rico de Antioquia en el siglo XVI, y es evidente que aún siendo mestizo e hijo natural se ganó muy bien ganada su hidalguía?.
