DON SILVESTRE GARCÍA CADAVID
Fundador de la familia Cadavid en Antioquia. Natural de Villafranca del Vierzo, en el Reino de León, hijo de don Francisco Cadavid García y doña María Polé. Se casó en Medellín en primeras nupcias con doña Luisa Restrepo. De este matrimonio nacieron tres hijos Joaquín, Domingo y María Ignacia. Contrajo segundas nupcias con doña Ángela María Jiménez, de esta unión nacieron doce hijos.

Don Silvestre García Cadavid Polé nació en Villa Franca de Bierzo en el Reino de León, España, por los años de 1.700, según declaraciones suyas en Medellín. Hijo de Francisco Cadavid García y María Polé, según lo declara en su testamento el 17 de mayo de 1.783. Casó en primeras nupcias en Medellín en 1724 con doña Luisa Restrepo Betancur, hija de don Francisco López de Restrepo y doña Andrea de Batancur. De este matrimonio nacieron tres hijos, dos varones y una hembra. Uno de sus hijos, fue José Domingo, quien estudió en San Bartolomé, se graduó de doctor y se ordenó como sacerdote. Contrajo segundas nupcias don Silvestre, el 25 de julio de 1741 con doña Ángela María Jiménez Restrepo hija de don Juan Jiménez Fajardo y doña Ángela Restrepo y de este matrimonio nacieron once hijos. Don Silvestre aparece algunas veces firmando documentos o dando declaraciones con el nombre de Silvestre García Cadavid lo que puede interpretarse, el García, como un segundo nombre, pues este era usado frecuentemente como nombre, o que usaba el segundo apellido de su padre, caso también frecuente. Lo que es claro es que el linaje que formó don Silvestre siempre usó el apellido Cadavid y que es el único personaje español que conocemos con este apellido del cual fue su genitor en Antioquia. Su descendencia fue numerosa extendida por toda la región.
NOTA: Los hijos de don Silvestre no usaron mas el apellido Garcia y solo tenian el Cadavid. Ver pags. 179

– Los descendientes del suplealcalde (1761) Silvestre “García” Cadavid Polé heredaron el tejar El Guamal de San Diego y el “Cerro Marcela de la Parra”, que recibió entonces el nombre de “Cerro de los Cadavides”. En 1927 lo vendieron a la Sociedad de Mejoras Públicas que lo rebautizó “Cerro Nutibara” poco antes de que la canalización del río lo alejara de Las Playas de Belén
