Biographical Details:
Martha Dunn was born on July 13, 1681, in Piscataway, Middlesex County, East Jersey Province.  Her parents, Hugh and Elizabeth Drake Dunn, were reportedly devout Baptists and she was probably not christened.  Her father died in 1694 and mentioned Martha in his will along with her brothers, Hugh, Samuel, and Joseph, and sisters, Mary and Elizabeth.  Martha married Thomas Runyan in 1698 or 1699 and moved with him to Hopewell Township in Burlington (later Hunterdon) County in the West Jersey Province.  Thirteen children are generally attributed to them; however, several of these probably did not survive to adulthood (or may be entirely spurious).  Martha Dunn Runyon was a member of the Old School Baptist Church evidently having joined prior to 1728.  Thomas Runyon appears to have died in 1753 and it is believed that Martha survived him another ten years, dying in 1763.  No burial place is known for either of them.Source Citations:1. William Nelson (ed), New Jersey Archives - First Series (alt. title Calendar of Records in the Office of the Secretary of State, 1664-1703.
