There is no proof of date of death or the where abouts of his burial site; however, based on cause of death (smallpox outbreak) for many of the John & Jane Ewing family that were close neighbors of Joel & Catharine Williams, the year of death is estimated to be about 1855. Joel Williams was not living when the 1860 Dooly County Census was taken at the household of Catharine Williams and youngest son, Tyler Williams in the Millwood District of Dooly County, GA. His burial location is most likely in their Williams Family Cemetery near the Dooly-Pulaski counties line north of the Vienna-Hawkinsville road.
