mmigrated from Germany on September 18, 1733 to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from London, England on the Johnson Galley. Paul, his wife Margaret and 9 children lived in Culpeper County, Virginia with the Germanna Colony. Married Margaret Clore in 1735, Culpepper Co., VA. His first wife, whom he divorced was Anna Maria Schlötzer, before emigrating to Virginia.

The will of Paul Leatherer was written 5 November 1780 and proved 25 November 1785. "Dearley beloved Wife Margaret Leather" to have all estate both real and personal during her natural life. Daughter Margaret, after her mother's decease to have slave named Hannah, one bed and furniture and one cow and calf. Residue of estate after wife's decease to be equally divided amongst all children - Michael Leatherer, Nich'l Leatherer, Samuel Leatherer, John Leatherer, Paul Leatherer, Joshua Leatherer, Susanna now called hers and one cow and calf of her choice. Daughter Susanna Leatherer to have one bed and furniture Leatherer, Mary Yowell and Margaret Leatherer. Wife Margaret and sons John and Joshua named executors. Witnesses were Jno Hume, James Crain and John Yowell. Margaret refused executorship. John and Joshua were granted executors.

1. Samuel Leatherer, born 1745, Virginia; died after 1832, Carroll County, Georgia.

2. Paul Leatherer, born 1 April 1747, Virginia; died about 1855, Georgetown, Scott County, Kentucky.

3. Michael Leathers, born before 1755, Virginia; died between 12 May 1805 - 21 February 1806, Pendleton District, South Carolina.

4. John Leathers, born about 1752-1755, Culpeper County, Virginia; died 6 September 1817, Campbell County, Kentucky.

5. Nicholas Leatherer, born about 1754; died between 17 December 1817 - 13 August 1818, Madison County, Virginia.

6. Rev. Joshua Joseph Leathers, born 13 December 1759, Culpeper County, Virginia; died 23 May 1825, Georgetown, Scott County, Kentucky.

7. Susannah Leatherer. Susanna Lederer served as sponsor at the baptism of Elisabetha Lederer on 29 October 1776. No further record after mention in her father's will.

8. Mary Leatherer Yowell, born c1755 Virginia; died after 1800.
