Notes about David Shoaf

*****This is not our ancestor's proven father, but highly likely. This line of Shoaf's is not well researched or published. The family of David and Elizabeth Shoaf (#216 in 1860) were not too distant neighbors of the family (#378) of Augustus and Elizabeth Traeger near Kenton, Hardin Co., OH. In 1860, the Hardin Co., OH. census, lists W[illiam] Trager, 40, male, Farmer, 180 acres, born in Germany; Catharine, 34, female, b. Germany; Lewis, 15 [not born to this couple. perhaps a nephew], b. OH.; Augustus, 8, b., WI.; Henrietta, 5, b. WI.; William, 3, b. WI.; Fred, 4/12, b. WI.; A. Trager, 68, Carpenter, b. Prussia; Elizabeth, 67, b. Prussia. A few families down, #216, find D. Shoaf, 66, b., Germany; Catharine, 64, b., Germany; Daniel, 34, b. Germany; Elizabeth, 6, b. OH. I know Will and Catharine Shoaf Traeger moved to WI., after their marriage, and back to OH., several years later. I find 3 Shoaf people being married by the same minister, I believe, within 12 months, in Kenton, and I believe they were probably from the same family. One of them is our ancestor.s Females0
