Hugh (whose widow, Margaret, m. William d'Englefield, and was living in Apr 1252), was son and heir of Hugh de Fokinton, of Folkington, Isfield, Tarring, Exceat, and Cholington, who d. before 1 June 1214, leaving a widow, Egeline. The elder Hugh, preavus of Roger la Warre, knight, gave one-third of the advowson of Tarring to the monks of Lewes. [Complete Peerage IV:140 note (a)]
