-1- "Rochelle Jardenaire" <rochelle@@insightbb.com> sent this via e-mail, 1 June 2005 from a typewritten document she has yet to identify to me.n a girl of eight years old when her parents immigrated to the United States. She probably met Thomas Cook shortly after [they] moved to Licking Co., OH in 1833. They were probably married in Licking Co., OH or Muskingum Co., OH. In the 1850 census, they lived in Morrow Co., OH, along with the rest of her family. Thomas is listed as a chairmaker, the same as Jane's brother, Robert. Jane and Thomas migrated to Kansas from Ohio in the year 1857, but did not stay, returning to Indiana in the same year. They moved back to Johnson Co., Kansas in the spring of 1858, where they bought land off of a Shawnee Indian named Henry Armstrong in what is now Lexington Twp. They did not return to Morrow Co., OH when Jane's parents died. They signed affidavits in Johnson County courts and sent them to Ohio. They apparently went back to Ohio one time in the 1880's, because there is a record of them attending a Gardner reunion about this time. Jane and Thomas were also members of the Methodist Episcopal Church for more than 40 years. They lived on the homestead until their deaths, whch occured just 40 hours apart. They ware both buried together in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas, 14 miles west of where they lived."
