Notes about Jan Timmer

In 1900 werd Dr. Jan Teunisz. Timmer (BG1857-Haarlem 1933) eigenaar van de boerderij 'Theodorahoeve' op Dijkmanshuizen 7. Na hoeve Goethe was dit zijn tweede boerderij. Deze kreeg de naam 'Rembrand
t', naar de beroemde schilder Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (Leiden 1606-Amsterdam 1669).

De Erven Dr. J. Timmer's Grondbezit liet in 1947 de boerderij 'Rembrandt' herbouwen en verkocht in 1948 d
e boerderij en het land aan de pachter en bewoner Pieter Mantje.

In 1907 liet Dr. Jan Timmer op Oostkaap 10 een boerderij bouwen. In 1906 had hij voor f 5.795,- bijna 4 ha land, alkomslig van 'H
et Varken', Oost 68, gekocht.

Jan Timmer had op Texel a1 7 boerderijen en gaf ze allen een naam. deze boerderij kreeg de naam 'Byron'.

Lord George Gordon Noel Byron (1788-1824) was een Eng
els dichter, die deelnam aan de vrijheidsoorlog van de Grieken en stierf bij Missolonghi. De naam Byron was de Texelaars te moeilijk om uit te spreken. Allen noemden de boerderij 'Bieron'.

immer verhuurde ook 'Byron'; bewoners waren oa.:

-Sijbrand Pieter Johannesz. Koning (1899-1965) kwam jong gehuwd met Aagje Klaasd. Krijnen op de boerderij, die zij in 1932 verlieten en op Kerkst
raat 9 gingen wonen.

-Jacob Jacobsz. Bakker (1903-19701, getrouwd met Catharina Jansd. Hoogerwerf, bleef hier maar drie jaar. Jacob had in 1933 op 7 ha weiland 53 schapen. Zij verhuisden naar he
t woonhuis Oesterstraat 7.

Na het overlijden van Dr. Jan Timmer werd de naamloze vennootschap 'Grondbezit Erven Jan Timmer' opgericht en ging het verhuur door.
