-- Published in The Alaska Dispatch News, 10/07/2016:

Carolyn Jane King left her earthly home to be with her Lord in the early morning of October 4, 2016.

Born Carolyn Jane Pfaff, January 31, 1943 in Vestal, NY to Frank L and Helen S (Latham) Pfaff, Carolyn lived a rich and Christ-focused life.

Carolyn, trained as a nurse, serving at Marcum Hospital in Longview, TX for 2 years, and later in Binghamton, NY. Her nursing skills served her well, raising a family of four and attending to the children and families of the churches they served in bush Alaska where doctors were seldom available.

Carolyn married Dwayne W. King August 17, 1963 in Vestal, NY. She served alongside Dwayne in their many capacities as lifelong missionaries, living 7 years in Russia and various locations throughout Alaska. Her love and quiet strength were a constant support to her husband, her children, the wives of many missionaries and their church families.

Carolyn's own ministry was the quiet support of missionary wives throughout the world through her writing.

She loved music, the works of Thomas Kincaid and flowers of every kind. An avid reader, Carolyn enjoyed her quiet time, she loved time with her family and friends, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dwayne King, her brothers Richard Pfaff and Duane Merritt, her children David (Debbie) King, Jon (Krista) King, Becky (William) Sherman, Joel (LaReina) King, her beloved grandchildren, Briana, Jeremiah, Aurora, Canyon, Taiga, Renee and Ian, along with many other family members and friends.

Services will be held at Victory Bible Camp in the main hall on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 3pm. A reception will follow to visit with the family. In lieu of flowers, we request that your gifts be sent to SEND International, 36210 Freedom Rd, Farmington, MI 48332 in Carolyn's name.

A family graveside service for her interment will be held at the private cemetery at her home of 20 years, King Ranch, Alaska.
