    OLD TOWN - OLD TOWN - George "Bud" Allen Stevens Sr., 87, beloved husband of Alberta Carlow Stevens, went to be with the Lord, Oct. 6, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Bud was the son of Ora B. and Rose Allen Stevens, born Dec. 8, 1920, in Old Town. He graduated from Old Town High School in 1939 and served in the Army Air Force for two years. Bud was an active member of First Congregational Church, Milford, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon. He was the yard superintendent at Diamond International until his retirement in 1982. Throughout his life, he was active in the Boy Scouts as Scout Master of troop 72 in Great Works. One of his joys was working at Leonards Mill, Bradley, as a bateau tour guide. Bud loved the outdoors. He enjoyed his camp at Cold Stream Pond and recreation with his family which included walking, fishing, bike riding, canoeing, golf and mountain climbing. At the age of 80, Bud accomplished the climbing of Mount Kahtadin to the top. Bud was predeceased by his mother and father; sister, Evelyn Harris; and his longtime friend, Perry O'Keefe. He is survived by his wife of 67 years; his two sons, Buddy and his wife, Janet, of Westboro, Mass., and Rusty and his wife, Vicky, of Cape Elizabeth; his five grandsons and their wives, Mark, Jon, Chris, Scott and Sean; and seven great-grandchildren, Danny, Eric, Katlyn, Meghan, Emily, Timothy and Linley. Bud was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a good Christian man. A visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. For those who wish to attend the committal service for Bud, please meet 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home when we will process to Lawndale Cemetery. The funeral service will be held after the burial 2:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Ministry of Old Town, 2 Wood St., Old Town, ME 04468 or to a charity of your choice.
