    Charles Edward* Schimmelfennig, Jr. was born in Koloa on the island of Kaua'i 04 Sep 1925. He was a former police officer with the Honolulu Police Department and former foreman with Dole Pineapple Company. Charles was also a retired chief investigator for the public defender's office. He was survived by son Charles E. III and six grandchildren. Funeral was held 21 Dec 1991 graveside at Kaua'i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

    *Charles had two obituaries published, the first ran on 19 Dec 1991 and the second corrected the first, published on 21 Dec 1991, both in The Honolulu Advertiser. The first obituary cites Charles' middle name as Edwin. However, primary source documents on Ancestry.com, including Charles' WWII draft card, cite his middle name as Edward, included here in his Find A Grave profile.
