LifeSketch: First of Tankernesseen built in the 16th century by the Groat family. 1642, acquired Kirkwall Mansion of the Foulzie family which became Tankerness House. It had originally two Cathedral manses-Archdeaconry and sub-chantry. They had been bought by Archdeacon Foulzie after the reformation and brought together by the extension in the front including the arch and the armorial stone with his and wife's coat of arms.
