<br>LifeSketch: Richard Prince was born on 26 May 1846 in South Africa. His parents had come to South Africa in 1841 when Queen Victoria of England was offering land grants to Englishmen in South Africa. When Richard was a boy, he loved the wild animals, especially the monkeys!k hats with an important message. In 1853, the first Mormon missionaries arrived. His father recognized them from his dream. The family was baptized and became members of the LDS Church. family boarded a ship, the Alacrity, to go to Zion. They stopped at St. Helenas Island and visited Napoleon's grave. They eventually made it to Winter Quarters, and then arrived in Salt Lake City on 2 October 1861. They spent the winter in Kaysville. Richard worked for Brigham Young that winter. He ate meals with the Young family. Richard was a bashful lad and President Young loved to tease him! the place Middleton.nd always helped them.olasses). They also raised vegetables and had a herd of dairy cows and range cattle.e, Martha, had 15 of their own children and raised their daughter's youngest child after her death. Richard died on 15 August 1927 at his home in Middleton, Utah.
