Voor 1829 verhuizen ze naar erve "Aaltink" of "de Onderschout", het ouders huis van Janna, waar ze verder blijven wonen. Bij de grote braand van Holten op 16-06-1829 is hij eigenaar/bewoner van het pand. De boerderij verbrand ook en heeft een geschatte waarde van ƒ4800,- en is bij 'de Jong' verzekerd voor ƒ4750,-. Tevens heeft het echtpaar een schade aan inboeldel van ƒ550,-. Hendrik Jan Hendriks is 'redelijk gegoed'.
