In 1779 is Daniel Stitteler weduwnaar van wijlen Maria Klaazen.
Het echtpaar woont eerst nog op de "Pannenbakkerij", waar Daniel ook tijdens zijn vorige huwelijk woonde. Daarna woont het gezin in op het oudershuis van Hendrina, "de kleine Borkent" op de Borkeld. Tussen 17-05-1787 en 12-10-1794 stichten ze een nieuwe katerstede op de Borkeld die, vernoemd naar de stichter, "Daniëls" gaat heten.
Bij de VT 1795 verblijven in het huis van 'Daniel Steteler', bouwman op de Borkeld, zes personen.
Tussen 21-10-1795 (VT) en 22-06-1806 worden ze aldaar opgevolgd door het echtpaar Arend Bergman x Willemina Oolbekkink.
