Notes about Hendrik Benedictus Kruse

Hendrik is in 1755 geboren als Hienrich Benedict. Hij is volgens zijn doopakte vernoemd naar de priester Heinrich Benedict Schmidt uit Halberstadt. In 1770 doet hij een toelatingsexamen voor een (onbekende) opleiding. Vervolgens is onbekend wat er tussen 1770 en 1786 gebeurt. In 1786 wordt in Denekamp de eerste dochter Magreta geboren. Ondertussen is hij ook getrouwd met Geeze Lenterink.

Hendrik is naar vermoeden gevlucht vanuit Goslar naar Nederland. En vestigde zich in Denekamp. Eerst aan de Vledderstraat, daarna aan het Kerkhof. Er zijn stukken van transacties met Keizer in het Twents archief in het meuseum Twentse Welle in Enschede. Hendrik heeft ook in 1795 de volkstelling in Denekamp uitgevoerd. Hij overleed doordat hij in 1815 door het ijs zakte van de Lutterbeek bij Hardenberg in de Buurt. Maanden later werd zijn lijk gevonden en geïdentificeerd door zijn zoon Godfried.

Bij Slagharen was er een meertje met de naam Stobbenplas, vrijwel op dezelfde plaats als de huidige Stobbeplas. De huidige plas heeft niets met de oude Stobbenplas te maken en is ontstaan door zandwinning voor de aanleg van de autoweg.Vanuit de oude Stobbenplas liep de Lutterbeek (zoals de bovenloop van de Reest genoemd werd) via het Bovenwater naar het westen en heette daar de Reest. De Stobbenplas kreeg op zijn beurt water via een veenloop uit de Kranenburger plas en de Noord Barker Plas. Deze veenloop heeft waarschijnlijk op de plaats van de huidige Schuinse Sloot gelopen. De Noord Barker Plas heeft bestaan ten oosten van het huidige Lutterveld. Die plas kreeg op zijn beurt weer water uit de Bulderryte, dat water uit de veenstreken verzamelde.
