Hendrik en Lina zijn om het leven gekomen door een bom, die was gelost door een terugkerend geallieerde bommenwerper, net buiten Lemmer die op hun vaartuig viel. Hierbij kwamen ook de drie jongste kinderen om het leven. De drie oudsten hadden het geluk toen niet aan boord te zijn.
Volgens "Een laatste Saluut",: Zij verdronken nadat hun binnenvaartschip tot zinken was gebracht na een beschieting door geallieerde vliegtuigen. Begraven op de particuliere begraafplaats "Bergklooster"te Zwolle, dubbelgraf vak 4, rij A, nr. 52/53.

Notes about Lina Booij

Lina Booij was de oudste zus van mijn vader, tweede kind van mijn opa Jan Booij en zijn eerste vrouw Jantina Ebellina Wever. Het eerste kind was Jan Booij, daar kom ik zo nog even op terug.
Lina Booij is geboren in Hasselt op 11 april 1908, getrouwd met Hendrik Hartman, geboren te Avereest op 9 oktober 1902. Trouwdatum is 21 augustus 1930 (te Amsterdam). Ze voeren inderdaad op de Tjoba. Ze hadden 6 kinderen. Ergens in de tweede helft van 1944 lagen ze met hun schip net buiten Lemmer in het Friese land (dus niet in het IJsselmeer). Ze schreven in een een brief - waarschijnlijk aan haar vader Jan Booij, die met zijn tweede vrouw (een halfzus van zijn eerste) in Haarlem woonde - dat ze een erg rustig plekje hadden en weinig of niets van het oorlogsgeweld merkten.
Op 6 september 1944 kwam er 's nachts een Engelse (lees geallieerde) bommenwerper over, die terugkwam van een actie in Duitsland en die een of meer aan boord achtergebleven bommen loosde boven de weilanden. Een van de bommen kwam onder het achterschip terecht van de Tjoba. Hendrik, Lina en hun 3 jongste kinderen kwamen daarbij om. De drie oudsten waren ergens (ik meen bij familie) in de kost om naar school te kunnen gaan.
Voor zover ik weet, leeft nog als enige hun tweede kind en oudste dochter Jantina Ebellina (Tiny) Westerhof-Booij (*15 december 1932), een nicht van mij.
