Notes about Arie Pietersz de GROOT

Op 6 juni 1734 is Arie de Groot betrokken bij een ongeval dat beschreven staat in het boek ‘Noordwijk aan zee en op de Geest’.
Vader en zoon Jan van Rijn de oude en Jan van Rijn de jonge zijn met hun koetswagen ‘op onbehoorlijke wijze, als rennende’ ingereden op de plezierwagen van Cornelis van Zuilen, waard in het Hof van Holland. Daarbij was het achterwiel losgeraakt waarna ook het voorwiel werd geraakt. De plezierwagen met daarin vier volwassenen en een kind kantelde.
Bij dit ongeval was de arm van Arie uit de kom geraakt, zodat hij zijn arm niet normaal kon gebruiken. Tijdens een rechtszaak op 28 juli 1734 eiste hij een schadevergoeding van 100 gulden en tevens de betaling van de rekening van de ‘ledezetter’ Pieter Roger en van de medicamenten in totaal 20 gulden. Niet bekend is of deze eis is gehonoreerd.
