Notes about Adrianus Nicolaas "Adrie" van Reenen

Adrie van Reenen is op 21 december 1895 geboren in Gouda. Hij volgde daar het onderwijs op de ambachtavondschool (1908-1911). Adrie van Reenen trouwde op 24-jarige leeftijd op 17 november 1920 met Hanna van den Heuvel eveneens geboren en wonende in Gouda. Adrie en Hanna kregen samen vier kinderen.

Hij werkte als timmerman bij Zanen en Verstoep. In 1950 werd hij gefêteerd vanwege zijn zilveren jubileum bij Zanen en Verstoep (Bron: Goudsche Courant, d.d. 3 maart 1950). In de jaren 60 was Zanen en Verstoep actief betrokken bij de afsluitingswerken van de Lauwerszee en het Haringvliet, de dijkaanleg op het IJsselmeer en de Metroaanleg in Amsterdam. Zanen en Verstoep verplaatste zijn activiteiten in de jaren 70 en 80 naar het buitenland en raakte betrokken bij grote werken in het Midden-Oosten, Afrika en in de Beaufort Sea. In 1988 wordt Zanen en Verstoep overgenomen door Boskalis.

Adrie van Reenen was als bestuurslid verbonden aan de Goudsche voetbal- en atletiekvereeniging Gouda en als zodanig verkozen in de elftalcommissie van de Goudsche Voetbalbond (G.V.B.).

Hij overleed op 65-jarige op 13 november 1961 fietsend op de Lazaruskade in Gouda aan een hartstilstand. Hanna overleed vier jaar eerder.
