Mandan is a city in Morton County, and the sixth largest city in the state of North Dakota in the United States. It is the county seat of Morton County and a core city of the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 18,331 at the 2010 census. The U.S. Census Bureau estimated 2011 population is 18,507. Mandan was founded in 1879 and became the county seat in 1881. Mandan is located across the Missouri River from Bismarck.
