Kirkland is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 10,315 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Samuel Kirkland, a missionary among the Oneidas. The Town of Kirkland is southwest of Utica, New York. In 1829, part of Kirkland was used to form the newer Town of Marshall. Hamilton College is in the western part of the town.
