Colditz is a town in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, near Leipzig, located on the banks of the river Mulde. The town has a population of 5,188 (2005). The town is most famous because of Colditz Castle, which has been used as a workhouse, mental health institution, a prisoner-of-war camp during World War I and as Oflag IV-C in World War II.
