Spijkenisse is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of 74,482 in 2006, and covers an area of 30.23 km² (of which 4.07 km² water). It is part of the Rotterdam Metropolitan Area. The municipality also includes the communities of Hekelingen, Den Hoek and Beerenplaat. Spijkenisse is twinned with Thetford, United Kingdom, and Hürth, Germany.
