Burghclere is a village and civil parish in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,138. The village is near the border of Hampshire with Berkshire and is 4 miles south of Newbury in West Berkshire.Work by the 20th-century artist Stanley Spencer can be found in the Sandham Memorial Chapel.It is also very close to the Hamlet of 'Newtown', and also to 'Old Burghclere'. In Burghclere, there is a Church, situated on Church Lane, which is called 'Church of the Ascension'.
