Notes about Mabel Barrow

SUMMARY: There is a question as the name of Mabel's parents. On the Christening record for Mabel no parents are listed. This christening is the only one for a Mabel from 1560 to 1571. It is felt that too much conflicting information exists that Hugh Barrowe and Mable who married in 1559 are the parents of our Mable, I am, therefore, removing Hugh Barrowe and Mable as the parents of Mable until such time that it can be proved otherwise. Below is a list of concerns that have caused me to doubt the parentage of Mable Barrowe.
1. There were six (6) Barrow marriages in Cartmel parish in a time frame that could be her parents: [#1.] Hugh Barrow and Mabel 3 Oct 1559; [#2]. Richard Barrowe and his wife 12 Oct 1560; [#3.] Robert Barrowe and his wife 6 Nov 1560; [#4.] Robert Barrowe and his wife 29 May 1561; [#5.] Edward Barrowe and his wife 7 Sep 1562; [#6.] Xpofer Barrowe and his wife 6 Sep 1565. Please note that no given name for females on marriages #2-6, just "his wife" so any of these five (5) females could be named Mabel.
2. The conclusion that Mabel is the daughter of Hugh and Mabel has been based on the child Mabel being named after her mother. The parish register for Cartmel has been examined and it was found that the "WIFE of Hugh Barrowe was buried 3 Feb 1562/3", this was before our Mabel was christened. Of course, we do not know for a certainty that this wife is actually Mabel the wife of Hugh who married in 1559, but it does cast a reasonable doubt as to the parents of Mabel. There was another "WIFE of Hugh Barrowe buried 22 Apr 1581", this could be the Mabel Taylor who married Hugh Barrowe in 1577/8 or the Mabel who married Hugh in 1559.
3. Was the Hugh Barrowe who married Mabel Taylor 24 Jan 1577/8, a widower?? Records do not state.
4. On the sealing record (8 May 1946 IF) for Hugh Barrow and Mabel the only child sealed to them was a son Hugh christened 7 Maie 1560.
5. Cartmel Parish records have been extracted to 1600 and nothing was found to disprove the above conclusion as to Mabel's parents.
