Aleram erhielt 933 und 935 von den Königen Hugo und Lothar Besitz in den Komitaten Vercelli und Acqui. Zu Berengar II. übergegangen, vermählte er sich in zweiter, offenbar kinderloser Ehe mit dessen Tochter Gerberga und wurde 960/61 zum Markgrafen erhoben.
