Ging vroeg van huis, waar elke leiding ontbrak. Hij ging naar Parijs en

zou daar - volgens zijn moeder - ook naar de haaien zijn gegaan, als zijn

zwager Albert hem niet op de goede weg gebracht had door hem in de zaak

op te nemen. Ook hij moest veel reizen, meest naar Spanje. Hij trouwde

zijn achternicht Sara Hermine Simons, die in de familie niet erg geliefd

was.

Eigenlijk wilde hij van haar scheiden en een vriendin des huizes trouwen,

maar deed dit niet omdat hij bang was, dat zij naar de bliksem zou gaan.
