They applied for a divorce January 15, 1891 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Nederland.

Op 5 dec 1890 werd de scheiding aangevraagd in Amsterdam door Heinrich Brauer (kort na de verwekking van Hans Christian).
Op 15 januari 1891 werd de scheiding uitgesproken door de Arrondisements Rechtbank te Amsterdam (image 1607).
Het vonnis werd "bezorgd" aan Leonie Bénard op 6 februari (image 1613) op het formele woonadres Jan Steenstraat 69, Amsterdam (NB in werkelijkheid overhandigd aan dochter Amalia)
en gepubliceerd op 18 februari 1891 en 17 maart in de kranten.
Op 5 maart 1891 is de scheiding geregistreerd in de akten van Amsterdam

NB Volgens de verklaring van Brauer woonde Leonie in Amsterdam, maar dit is in tegenspraak met de conceptie in Batavia van Hans Christian Bénard, later genoemd van Holtz.

Volgens de getuigenis van Brauer in het scheidingsproces, heeft Leonie de echtelijke woning in augustus 1886 verlaten en is daar niet meer terug gekeerd.
Aangenomen is dat na de vendutie in Batavia, rond september, de echtgenoot met kinderen vertrokken is naar Nederland.

(2) She lives with Carl Georg von HOLTZ.

They live together about 1890 at Batavia, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Leonie leefde sinds augustus 1886 in Batavia gescheiden van haar echtgenoot en kinderen in Nederland, ZIj was initieel formeel nog getrouwd met Brauer.
