Anne Louise (Schaap) Heusinkveld entered into glory on May 19, 2017, after passing away at her home in Gold Canyon, Arizona, following a lengthy battle with dementia.

Anne was born on Oct. 20, 1926, to Henry and Dena Schaap in Comstock, Michigan, and graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1944. In 1951 Anne and her best friend Annabelle decided to move across the country to Bellingham, Washington, where she met her husband, Henry “Hank” Heusinkveld. They were married on Sept. 18, 1953 and made their home in Lynden.

Anne spent most of her working career in the banking industry including National Bank of Commerce, Rainier Bank and Peoples State Bank, doing everything from bank teller to administrative assistant. She also spent a number of years as the bookkeeper for Cascade Christian Services.

Retirement years were spent living in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the winter and campground hosting at Wanapum State Park in Washington in the summer until they moved to Gold Canyon full-time in 2004 to live near their daughter.

Anne is survived by her husband, Henry; daughter Sharon Winters and son-in-law Phil Winters of Gold Canyon; brothers John (Betty) Schaap of Comstock, Michigan, and Bob (Sara Jane) Schaap of Brookfield, Wisconsin; sisters Grace Waterlander of Savannah, Georgia, and Eleanor (Roger) Doorn of Portage, Michigan; sister-in-law June Schaap of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Schaap, and brother-in-law Jack Waterlander.

The family will have a celebration of life in honor of Anne later in the summer.
Anne’s family thanks Brookley and Vasti and the rest of the staff at Family Comfort Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during the last months of Anne’s life.
