Michael Pope Obituary
Pope, Michael Grant; age 61; passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, MI. Michael has lived in West Branch for the past 14 years, formerly from McBain, MI. He was born to Grant and Dolores (Briggs) Pope in Owosso, MI on January 24, 1953. Michael married Betty "Sue" Wright in Perry, MI and celebrated 39 years of marriage this year. He was a member of the Skidway Lake Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing for the Lord. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and baking. Michael was a loving father to his own sons and was a dad to over 30 foster children and 30 exchange students throughout the years. He always had room in his heart to love children that they welcomed into their home. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sue Pope of West Branch, MI; sons: Joshua Pope of Flint, MI, Jeremy Pope of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Jeffrey (Tanisia) Pope of Prescott, MI; grandchildren: Hannah Cole, Charity Pope, Grant Pope and Serenity Pope; and his mother, Dolores Pope. He is preceded in death by his father, sister, Linda VonDoloski, and brother, James Pope. A Memorial Service will be held at the Skidway Lake Baptist Church on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. Pastor Russell Schmidt will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the family for the future of Michaels's grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Homes in West Branch, MI.
