"Funeral Services Held Thursday For Jake Johnson

Funeral services for Jake Johnson were held Thursday afternoon, July 31, 1958 at the Winter Funeral Home, followed with services at the First Reformed Church, with the pastor, Rev. Henry Van Dyke, in charge. Interment was made in OlenaMound cemetery, Buffalo Center, with Fred Krull, Henry Krull, Alvin Gerzema, Ben Heyes, Ben Gruis and Chris Pedersen serving as pallbearers.

Jake Johnson, son of Eppie Johnson and Maria Feltman Johnson, was born near Iowa Falls, Iowa, April 10, 1901. He moved with his parents to Winnebago county in 1908 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was united in marriage toRuth Balvance on December 21, 1927. To this union three children were born: Dorothy, Donald and Aria.

Jake Johnson had been in ill health for the past year and a half. He spent some time in various hospitals but death came on Monday, July 28 at about 6:30 p.m. He thus reached the age of 57 years, 3 months and 18 days. Besides hisparents, he was preceded in death by one sister who died in infancy and two brothers.

In addition to his wife and 3 children, there are two grandchildren, Diana Linn and Sheryl who mourn his passing. Also, two sisters, Mrs. Gunther Hugo of Buffalo Center and Mrs. Charlie Westendorf of Mason City. Two brothers: Willie ofBuffalo Center and Eppie of Houston, Texas also survive. In addition to the immediate family there are a number of other relatives who remain and a host of good neighbors and friends.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Jake Johnson became members of the First Reformed Church of Buffalo Center by confession of their faith on May 11, 1930. Jake served as a deacon of the church from 1947 to 1950. He was also a charter member andfaithful attendant of the Adult Sunday School class." <>
