Obituary

Ronald Dean Leitner, age 83, of Mount Vernon, Washington, passed away at the University Of Washington Medical Center on Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born on June 11, 1938, to George and Mary Leitner. Ron graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956 and attended Skagit Valley Junior College. He married Virginia "Skip" Alwood on April 11, 1958, in Sedro Woolley. Ron worked for several men's clothing stores before opening his own business in downtown Mount Vernon, later moving his business to the Cascade Mall, retiring in 1999.
Ron loved to golf and spent many days out on the course during his retirement. He built a cabin on Marble Creek in the Cascade River area and loved fishing the Cascade with his son, Chris. He also enjoyed their trips to Maui. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and his biggest joy was making people laugh and be happy. He was a wonderful husband and father. He will be dearly missed.

Ron is survived by his wife, Skip; sister-in-law, Sherrie Chacksfield; brothers-in-law, Glen Larson and Daryl Dickerhoof; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris; parents, George and Mary Leitner and two sisters, Donna Larson and Marilyn Dickerhoof.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to your favorite charity.
