RITES HELD FOR MRS. HENRY MEYER
Mrs. Henry Meyer, nee Susie Dreesman, was born near Freeport, Illinois on July 17, 1859. She died at her home here in Titonka on July 14, 1937. Had she lived until today she would have been 76 years of age. While yet a young girl shemoved with her parents to Abbot, in Hardin County, Iowa, and then in 1877 her parents moved to Kossuth County. This county was quite sparsely settled at that early date and Mrs. Meyer was one of those who were privileged to watch thecountry develop from a swamp to one of the most productive in the state. In 1888 she was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Meyer by Rev. Daniel Schaeffer, the first pastor of the Ramsey Church. this wedding was the third which wasperformed after the Ramsey Church was organized. From the day the church was proposed borht Mr. and Mrs. Meyer were bound up with its activities. And shortly afterwards they became communicant members. Mrs. Meyer has remained afaithful member ever since. The first 30 years of their married life was spent on the farm. three children were born to this union: one preceded the mother in death; the other two are still living.
In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Meyer left the farm. Since that time Mrs. Meyer has found a friendly place in the hearts of her many acqaintances [sic]. For over a year Mrs. Meyer had been suffering from various ailments. During the past sixmonths there were many nights when her loved ones all but gave up hope for her. But each time she was able to overcome the physical weaknesses which had assailed her. About a month and a half ago another complication assailed her andgradually conquered her physical vigor. At last, although everything had been done to give her relief that humans could do, the final summons came and she departed from this earth confessing her Saviour and at peace with the knowledgethat she was about to leave. During the time that she was ill her appreciation for little favors done her was remarkable - her cheery, 'thank you, com again,' right up to the last day will not soon be forgotten by her family, her lovedones, and her pastor. God give this world more mena n women who can suffer and die with such a cheery 'Thank you, come again,' on their lips. Mrs. Meyer leaves in this world to mourn her departing, her husband, Mr. Henry Meyer; her daughter, Mrs. Dick Sleper; her son Ben U. Meyer, with their families; brothers and sisters, C. Dreesman and Enno Dreesman of Algona; Mrs. Jennie Wagner of Buffalo Center; U. A. Dreesman of Lakota, and Mrs. Anna Ferguson of Algona; twograndchildren, Dorothy Sleper and Marjorie Meyer; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

An interesting sidelight on her passing comes to us in the form of a flower. A potted plant in full bloom was sent to her by the Aid of the Ramsey Church. the flower kept in bloom during quite a period of her illness; gradually as her condition became worse the flower began withering, until the day of her death two leaves remained on the stalk. Whe she died those last two leaves also fell aff and the plant was dead. What a sermon in a flower. - Contributed by Rev.Calvin Schnucker."
