Obituary: Esther Ruth McCormick, 60, Story City, died Tuesday at the Story City Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday from Bethany Manor Chapel, Story City, with the Rev. M.C. Hagedorn officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday at Riverview Cemetary, Elmore, Minn.

Miss McCormick was born July 8, 1911, at Elmore, Minn. She had worked at Bethany Manor, for 10 years, retiring in 1971.

Survivors include her mother,Mrs. Pearl Ferch; and a sister, Olga Ferch of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and her father. June 1972

Adoption: When Esther's father died in the spring of 1927, Pearl was unable to raise the children on her own and sent them to an orphanage. Esther, age 15, was placed in the home of the McCormick's of McCormick-John Deere. Change Date: 9OCT 2002
