"Herre 'Harry' Winter was born on April 27, 1851, and died December 6, 1934 at Buffalo Center. Harry and Efke Julius Hoffman were married in 1881 in Germany and came to America in 1882, settling near Wellsburg, Iowa. Later he moved toCleves, Iowa, and in 1901 came to Buffalo Center with his family. Three weeks after moving to Buffalo Center, on April 4, 1901, Efke passed away of heart diease. Harry continued living in the community, becoming a member of the localBaptist Church in 1915, where he faithfully served until his death. Both are buried in Olena Mound Cemetery. Harry and Efke were the parents of Tena (Mrs. Jasper Dirksen), Ubbe H., John H., Sam, and Dick H."
