Notes about Rhoda Munson

Rhoda Munson

Sources: Author: Navorska, Donald; Title: Navorska ancestry chart, (Publication site: Olmsted Twp., Cuyahoga Co., OH, Publisher: DRN, Publication date: ca. MCMXLIV)

Ts. gives year of birth = 1841. Dc. calculates year of birth = 1844. 1880 census calculates a year of birth of 1845 or 1846.

1880 census gives place of birth = Ontario. Dc. gives pob = Canada

Occupation = Domestic

Cause of Death = The Grippe

Age at Death = 46y 4m 2d

The dc. for Rhoda gives year of death = 1890; however, the dc. was filed 21 Sept 1891.

The 7 June, 1880 Capac Village, St. Clair census gives Rhoda's age = 34y.

If 34 is her true age, she would have been born after 1 June 1845 & before 1 June 1846. The census enumerator could have visited on her 34th birthday or the day before her 35th birthday or anytime in between.

If the dc. is correct, 1890 5 28 minus 46y 4m 2d -> 1844 1 26 ==> dob = 26 Jan 1844.

Author: Vreeland, Robert D., Sr.; Title: Letter to David A. Navorska, (Publication site: Plymouth MI, Publisher: RDV, Publication date: iv June MCMLXXXI)

Robert Vreeland gives 2 very good possible cemetery sites where Rhoda might be buried: Cass City, MI & West Branch, MI.

He provides valuable family history with this comment,

"I suggested maybe West Branch - a fairly good-sized town not far from Cass City. Steve and Emma Dunbar - and my mother - lived there for some period of time, but I don't know for how long. I have some pictures of my mother taken by a West Branch photographer when she was about two years old. That would make it about 1887 or 88. My grandfather [Steve Dunbar] was a plasterer by trade and, in the winter, when there was no building going on, he worked as a cook in somelumbering camp. I think it was at that period they were in West Branch."
