James E. Plucker, 68, died Monday, July 3, 2017 at his Sioux Falls home of an apparent heart attack.

James Elroy Plucker was born on June 19, 1949, at Lennox, SD, the son of Bertus H. and Eleanor (Kuhlmeier) Plucker.. He grew up near Chancellor attending Rural School District 4 and then graduated from Chancellor High School.

He went on to serve in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1972.

On February 13, 1975, he married Deborah Painter in Enid, OK. They made their home in Sioux Falls.

James worked as a steel worker and welder for Sioux Steel in the past and currently at State Steel in Sioux Falls. James attended Asbury Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. He enjoyed movies and music and collected Beatles records. James was a quiet and gentle man who was always interested in history.

Survivors: two sons: Scott (Angie) Plucker, Felton, CA and Robert (Jennie) Plucker, Sioux Falls; three grandchildren: Ava, Madison and Eleanor; siblings: Bernice Hammerstrom and Delores VanBockern both of Sioux Falls, Eldonna Butler, Landrum, NC, Stanley (Marlene) Plucker, Tea, Debra (Paul) Hartz, Luverne, MN; and Penny (Alan) Stratmeyer, Tea, SD. and other relatives, extended family and friends.
