'Isaiah BLIZZARD and Catharine (FLATTER) BLIZZARD

Isaiah was born between 1781-1784 in Maryland, the son of John and Chloe Blizzard. He married Catharine Flatter, November 18, 1809 in Baltimore County, Maryland. Catharine was born in the early to mid 1790's. She was the daughter ofGeorge Flatter, who died before 1815 in Maryland.

The only U. S. Census listing found for Isaiah was in 1810 in Baltimore County, listing him and his wife and one daughter under the age of tem. The next U. S. Census listing was in Darke County, Ohio for M. Blizzard and her son, Alfred. No mention of Isaiah.

A land rental deed has been found for Jackson Blizzard in Darke Co., Ohio with Isaiah Blizzard and Jacob Flatter (possibly brother to Catharine) listed as witnesses in October of 1835.

A family Bible, believed to belong to W. T. S. Fox and his wife Allie Blizzard Fox (dau of Alfred Blizzard) contained several loose papers, among them a tax receipt showing Isaiah Blizzard paying taxes on $37.00 worth of personal propertyon October 9, 1847. There are the only two records I have found for Isaiah Blizzard in Ohio. I believe he died between 1847 and 1860. No record has been found of his death or burial place.

Catherine and Isaiah had twelve children according to an obituary of their son, Peter. Seven of the twelve are as follows: LUCINDA ZIMMERMAN; LURENNAH BLIZZARD; ALFRED BLIZZARD; PETER BLISSARD; LaFAYETTE BLIZZARD; JACKSON BLIZZARD andMICHAL BOWMAN.

Catherine and part of her family moved west to Champaign County, Illinois sometime in the early 1860's. They settled in East Bend Township where Catharine married William Johnson on May 25, 1865 as her second husband. He died in July of1874. Sometime later, Catharine or Katy as she was then known, moved to Urbana, Illinois where she died on December 9, 1880 at the age of 88 years. She is buried in Lot 2 of Block 5 in Burt and Beardsley's addition to Mt Hope Cemeteryin Urband, Illinois. There is no stone there to mark the grave now.'
