Is the date of death MM.DD.YYYY (U.S.) or DD.MM.YYYY (world) 4 July 1773 or 7 Apr 1773? My hypothesis is Herr Schobert used the form used more commonly in Europe DD.MM.YYY.-D.A. Navorska-xxv Oct MMXXIV-in proximo Grove OK.

Caution: Preußen did not take control of Hannover until the treaty that ended the Austro-Prussian War circa 1868. Hannover did not take control of Ostfriesland (of which Horsten was a part) until the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo circa 1814. First the area returned to Prussia for say a year, then the area was ceded to Hannover circa 1815. Deutschland was only a general geographical area until the treaty at the end of the Franco-Prusian War circa 1872 when it became a government. Preußen was in control of Ostfriesland from the death of the last prince of Ostfriesland in 1744 until the French conquered the area circa 1806. Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) became a province of the newly formed West Germany in 1949. In 1770 Königreich Hannover did not include Ostfriesland of which Horsten was a part.-D.A. Navorska-xxv Oct MMXXIV-in proximo Grove OK.

Caution: Not far away, there is another Horsten: Horsten, Onstwedde, provincie Groningen
