Birth about 1535 England Reason: Her marriage indicates she was from the parish of St. Leonard of Eastcheap, London. However, her will mentions the parish of Bletchingley, Surrey, England, where she *may* have been born. Her parents are unproven. about 1635 per WikiTree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Whatman-10 Last Changed: October 17th, 2024 Robert V. Bremer

Death before 30 June 1599 London St Benet Gracechurch with St Leonard Eastcheap, Middlesex, England Reason: the 18th day of June 1599 was the date Elizabeth wrote her will, she did NOT die on that date, ... her will was proved 28 July 1599 so we know she died before that date. we have a burial date of 30 June 1599 at London St Leonard Eastcheap parish.

Brief Life History
John Brooke married, "8 May 1554, Elizabeth Waterman, both of St. Leonard's". Her surname is apparently incorrect in the marriage record, for in her will she names Elizabeth and William Whetman, children of her brother. Even this appears to be not quite right. Her will indicates connections with Horsham, Sussex; and Blechinglee, now Bletchingley, Surrey. The Horsham connection appears to belong to the previous generation. Elizabeth would have been born before the parish registers of Bletchingley began, but there are Whatman's there, including children the right age to be the neice and nephew mentioned above, and the burial of a Mary Broke, who corresponds perfectly with a child of John and Elizabeth, and is the only occurrence of the name Brooke at Bletchingley before 1667. Elizabeth's will directed that she be buried at St. Leonard Eastcheape in London, "wherre I am a parrishioner." She gave "unto and amounge the Companye of Lethersellers in London, to accompanye my Corps to the Churche at the date of my buryall Fortie shillings," "among the poore Children harboured daie of my buryall Fortie shillings." Extensive bequests of clothing and possessions were made, mentioning son-in-law Robert Foote, daughter Joane Foote and her daughter Mary Foote, daughter Margarett Foote and her daughter Elizabeth, Susan Bonner, daughter Sarah Storye and her children, brothers son William Whetman and his sister Elizabeth Whetmann, daughter Katheryn Flood and other.
