Funeral services for Gida Elmira (Groven) Hasner, 100, of Canby, were held Friday, Oct. 18, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby, with Rev. Katherine Rood officiating. Burial was in the Wilmot Cemetery in Wilmot, SD., Melby was the soloist, singing "Rock of Ages." Olsen was the organist, with the congregation singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere".

Mrs. Hasner died on Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Sioux Valley Canby Campus. Gida Elmira (Groven) Hasner was born on May 20, 1902, in Canby to parents Gilbert A. and Caroline M. (Olson) Groven. She was married to Fred Hasner, and she worked as a homemaker to her family of 10 children. Fred passed away in 1959, and Gida continued to live at home until becoming a resident of the Senior Haven in Canby. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby, and the Women of the E.L. C. W. Some of her enjoyments in life included walking, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and traveling.

Gida is survived by her children; and a daughter-in-law. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, three children, Lavina Saienga, Howard Hasner and Clayton Hasner; three grandsons: Dwight Tuve, Mark Kirschbaum, and Michael Hasner; five brothers; Albin, Roy, Clarence, Melvin and George Groven; and three sisters, Agnes Anderson, Helen, Moore and Hilma Groven.
