Widow Sicely Chapin became sick and died Her son Japhet executor of his mother's will. Her name on her will is Sicely. Burial was in Old Burying Ground. Years of floods washed graves into the Connecticut River. Overcrowded and to make way for the railroad the cemetery was eliminated. Some of the families moved loved ones to other cemeteries. The earlier settlers had returned to dust. A Cenotaph marker placed in Springfield Cemetery was placed in honor of the many.
