The first wife of John Clarke the founder of Hartford, Saybrook and who died at Milford in 1672 was supposedly Elizabeth but no evidence has been found to support this claim Genealogists consider her to be unknown. She must have died prior to 1663/4 when John Clarke married Mary Ward Fletcher, widow of John Fletcher of Milford. He mentions Mary in his will. Mary died in Farmington in January 1678.
